Put your computer to sleep with SONAR.
Posted on March 8, 2010
Here’s the magic of open source applications. This little application tells your computer when to go to sleep using SONAR. How? The program emits an inaudible sound and uses the microphone to detect whether or not there is an object within 4 feet of the front of the computer. If not, it goes to sleep.
This one is native for Windows, and can also be easily compiled if you use Linux. I’m sorry Mac users, but once again you have to wait for your lord god Steve Jobs to get his grubby fingerprints all over this one.
I’m going to try putting it on my work laptop. It will be interesting to see how well it interacts with other applications like movie players etc.
